Pregnancy Questionnaire

  • How does your pregnant body feel?  Large.  When I told a coworker when I was due, she replied with well you do pop out more on your second.  I think that maybe pregnancy is glimpse of what it can be like to get old....I need more sleep (seriously, I nap everyday I'm home) but at the same time you have trouble getting a good night sleep, I get out breath really easily, my back hurts,  everything seems like more effort...
I just love this picture because Brett's giant smile is for real.  We had 8 of us go to Ben Folds with Edmonton Orchestra and it was awesome.

  • What changes have you noticed?  My hair and skin are less oily...both are plus for me.   My groin muscle pain that takes the fun out of my running and the usual back pain that I'm sure everyone has.

  • Have you had any morning sickness?  Not really since the 1st trimester which I guess explains my ability to gain weight so easily.

  • Are you experiencing any strange cravings? I totally didn't buy into cravings the 1st time around..I thought it was just a good excuse to eat whatever or have your husband get you treats but this time I'm really loving fruit especially oranges and pineapple and crunchy chocolate (preferably refrigerated smarties or mini eggs).  Or are there some foods you can't stand any more?     Nope

  • Are you showing? Yep, I'm at 31 weeks When did your belly become obvious?  I was sporting baggy clothes before I was even done the 1st trimester but I think it was awhile before people could differentiate weight gain from pregnant.
  •  Gavin and I have no pictures together where I can get him to look up but sometimes we try anyways.
  • Have you had to buy any maternity clothing?  Nope, between last pregnancy and my sister's loaner clothes.  I can't justify buying clothes I'll only wear for few months.

  • Have you felt baby move yet? Yep, this baby is a mover and a shaker.  I don't think it goes more than an hour or 2 without moving.  It's pretty good at finding my bladder while I'm trying to fall asleep.

  • Have you seen baby on ultrasound? Yep, it was pretty much the cutest baby every.   How did it feel to see the little being growing in your belly?  For me, the ultrasound is when I really feel like there's actually a baby in there.

  • Have you found out the gender of you baby? No What were your reasons for deciding to find out / not to find out?  I like sharing the surprise when the baby's born and really I wouldn't do anything more even if I knew.

  • Have you done any preparation at home for baby's arrival?  We needed more space, so we rented  our place out for July so we just have to find somewhere to move now.  That's about it.
  • What do you love about being pregnant?  Umm, feeling the baby move around.
  • What are excited for about being done pregnancy?  Cuddling that sweet little baby.   Having my body back...it does a lot for me and I love it for that, but it doesn't work the same pregnant. My rule is I only activities I like, I don't like running pregnant.  I really tried swimming, but I hate it.  I get excited to get back in shape even its slow.
  • Are you moody?  Yes, I've had a tough time emotionally this time around.  I hate having emotions you feel like you really can't control or why you even feel that way.  I just don't feel myself when I'm like that and have no motivation for the usual routine.
  • Are you stressed?  I must be since I apparently I grind my teeth so much at night I chipped one.  1st, we still need to find a place to move to and finalize with our renters.  We're planning to move a matter of weeks before I'm due since I don't want to move away from our babysitter's while I'm still working.  I'm going back to work full-time next month (I only do 3 days right now which I love).  Having 2 kids and everything that goes with it...missing the sleep, I just hope for a baby like Gavin, etc.  This sounds silly, but I worry about being home with 2 kids full-time.  I really like the balance I have right now.  There's something about going to work being productive that refreshes my patience and energizes me for when I go home.   Since I'm not at home all the time, I savour what I do have and don't care that I don't have crafty hobbies or anything.   He's pretty fun to pick up when he races to the door and talks/giggles/squeals the whole ride home.  I'm pretty sure the working full-time for month will help cure that.
  • Brett had birthday last month.  I thought Gavin could help me make a cake, but he thought I meant eat it.  There was small tantrum involved when I put it in the oven.

Look who's 2

This boy is officially 2.  I wish I could take credit for his train cake but all I did was put some icing and m&m's on.  Ashley (Brett's sister) made it.  It tasted as good as it looked (peanut butter cream frosting so good).  There's probably a toss up for Gavin's favourite aunt these days...Ashley always making treats and Sheri Ann always has an iphone or ipad.  While we were singing happy birthday, we had to keep stopping him from grabbing cupcakes.  I made enchiladas for dinner (one of the few meals I make Gavin actually eats consistently).  He's been in love with all his new toys.
A few things about Gavin at 2:
- Non-stop energy, sometimes he just runs in circles.  Walking up from our parkade the other day, he found a pole and just started running around and laughing.  His Uncle Chad calls him fire because he doesn't stop moving.
- Loves to dance and has branched out a bit with his moves beyond twirling.
- Doesn't know gentle. Ask him for hug and he pretty much bulldozes you in the chest.  If you lay on the floor, he takes this as an invitation to dog pile.  He love to wrestle around and when he gets hurt, he just shakes his head and continues on.  He loves to climbs and sommersaults or dives off the couch.
-  He climbed out of his crib last week, but I'm hoping it was a one time deal since I really don't want to move him to a bed yet.  He sleeps so good and plays in crib for awhile before he falls asleep so I don't want to rock the boat.  Maybe he sleeps so good because when he tires himself out.
- Loves ipad (what kid doesn't) but won't let you finish a book or game.
- Throws a mean tantrum that can be confused with his dancing if you couldn't see his screaming face.
- Loves to help/make messes in the kitchen
- Still has a lot foods that aren't allowed to stay on his plate.  He screams when he's sees pretty much any vegetable or fruit on his plate.  He'd be perfectly happy if I let him carry around milk and box a cereal all day.
- Still hates when we leave him, but gets over it pretty quick especially with fun cousins to play with.
- I don't know what he's trying to say most of the time, but he's pretty good all his sound effects.
- Loves books
- Loves to play cars, trains, and anything else that makes a noise or needs a noise
Happy Birthday Gavin!

Its a...

Here's the soon to be member of our family.  We already in love with him/her (we didn't find out the gender).  Brett thinks its a boy, and he was right last time...but I'm really feeling the girl.  Anyways we put bets on it since Brett is so sure its a boy.  I'm due July 21, just after my birthday.
We have Gavin in training.  This little elephant has turned into Gavin's baby.  He wraps him up, hugs him, pushes him around in his shopping cart, and even gives his soother to him sometimes.  I had to laugh as a watch him lay down the elephant, get the wipes, lift his legs up and wipe his bum, wipe his face, and then throw the wipe in the garbage.  Just when I think he might be ready for a baby around here, he lays his elephant on the floor and does a body slam on him.  I guess that's why we have until July to prep him.

In Between

We're not too exciting around here, but I'll attempt to blog anyway.  We might get up early, but we take naps pretty seriously around here including me when I'm home.  I think if I didn't I get bored or that's my excuse.  Gavin woke up early from his nap and didn't want to stay in his crib, but within 10 minutes he was back asleep for another 1 1/2 hours.
We didn't go skating at all last year, so I convinced Brett we had to go since we've been having such nice weather too.  I love Gavin's face in the bottom pic; I'd spin him around and he just laugh.  He won't keep mittens on so we put a jacket on underneath with the fold over sleeves.
Few weeks ago at Ice on Whyte and riding the street car across the High Level bridge.  (I'm all over finding us free things to do these days.)
The other day while Gavin was watching cartoons, the cartoon guy started fixing a guitar, so Gavin ran into our room and grabbed Brett's guitar (it's his cheap one, so its kind of turned into Gavin's), brought it out to play while he watched.

You know when everything just feels busier, more difficult and just kind of blah and you can't really even say why.  Thats me right now.  I can't even say I'm super busy....Brett is, so maybe that's why I feel like I am.  Things that I wish were happening aren't.   I think I'm a little too sensitive these days too, but I can't believe what people will say sometimes.  What makes it worse is I pulled my groin, so I'm missing my running relief.  Seriously, running rejuvenates me like no other sport/exercise can.  I'm really having to hold myself back because I hoping it will heal faster than it did last time.  Oh well, I'm done whining.

On to what I'm excited about, guess who's coming to Edmonton for the 1st time and isn't going anywhere else in Canada....Ben Folds.  We're kind of super fans at our house.  When Brett and I were dating sometimes I wonder if he owned any CD's besides Ben Folds because it was always in his car (He did, he just really likes Ben Folds).  Yep, we're buying our tickets this week for next month.  Since our regular dates consist of meeting for lunch on Fridays and watching SNL Saturday nights, I'm pretty pumped.

A peak at Christmas Favourites

We were pretty excited for Christmas holidays this year since Brett's been really busy with school.  He had 2 weeks off...he's never taken that much time off school while we've been married.
5 hours to Raymond is a long drive for this little boy after naps are done, snacks are eaten, books are read, and we're not there yet...we take pictures for Gavin's entertainment.  Unfortunately, he usually pretty messy by this point, so I usually delete them all, but I guess this trip the black and white hid his mess.

1.  Sleeping in.  We even taught Gavin who's been waking up at 6-6:30 lately to sleep in eventually.  I'm sad we're going to ruin it this week by having to wake him up.
2. Christmas Eve Festivities: pjs, nativity, food, etc.  Gavin and Eli always seem to be the weak link in cousin pictures.
3. Just Dance.  I beat Brett if you're wondering.  I think we all played a lot because Gavin pointed to the TV when it was off and then started dancing.
4. Christmas morning.  Brett didn't get the memo we weren't spending much for Christmas so I got spoiled and loved it.  Gavin was more into playing with Sadie and Hannah kitchen while everyone else opened presents.  Gavin did open his presents at one point.

5. 5th Wedding Anniversary in love.  We don't usually do much for our anniversary since its right after Christmas and we're usually with family.  Last year we went to different movies, so at least this year we spent it together.  We went out to dinner with Lins and Derek and then movies.
6. Lots of movies...going to movies and watching them at home.  At Brett's parents, they set up a big screen for movies which we did few times.
 7. Mr. Mom for a week.  I worked last week, but Brett was still off.  It was awesome...he deep cleaned, organized, made dinners, picked me up from work just to name a few.  If I didn't love hanging out with Gavin so much, it may have tempted me to change our set up.
 8. Swimming.  We did this a few times just because its one of the few easy things to take Gavin out to do.  He's getting more and more fearless like I had to stop him from jumping off the slide.
9. Of course, days on end of yummy food.
10. Gavin bonding with grandma & grandpa and rest of the family we don't see as often.  This is so Gavin right now.  He loves the iPad or anything else electronic.
